Went back to Advanced, cleared the codes after fixing the hose to my EGR, code hasn't come back on, and i've driven it almost 50 miles since erasing the codes and almost 200 since fixing the problem

thanks tim! BTW, will i pass for tires if i do the old Lincoln's head thing to check the tread depth and the top of his head is covered? NYS is pretty easy when it comes to tires, there can be no crack to the cords, no steel cords showing and there must not be two consecutive rows of tread that are word to the wear bars- on every tire there is a wear bar, it runs the perpendicular to the tread of the tire in several spots. If the tire is not wore to this indicator it passes, period. I thought you had two sets of wheels? if so, and one set is not legal just put the others on for the inspection. youre right, i should just swap the wheels... oh well, got to get my ECM fixed first...

I had a CEL when I needed to get my car inspected a year or 2 ago. I brought it to autozone, they cleared it for free, I drove down the road, got it inspected and the light came back on while I was driving home. I got pretty lucky.

That was before the NYVIP system was implemented. Today, in that same situation you would have come back with monitors NOT READY failure. You can NOT just reset the light and bring the vehicle in for inspection, your vehicles OBDII port is plugged into a NYS computer and it checks for this(monitor readiness), in addition to the MIL functioning properly and of course any codes that may be stored- not to mention the safety portion of the inspection still has to be completed.
